Mark Sims

Assistant Pastor
Preaching, counseling, teaching, discipling, planning, motivating, and casting vision — it’s my job at Kingwood. But it is more than that—it’s my heart.
In my role as Director of the Birmingham Metro Master’s Commission, I have the privilege of training individuals to be the best disciples they can be, while utilizing the group as a whole to carry out the work of evangelism all over the world. I have always been a disciple-maker, and my wife and I work together in this task, turning out the finest young men and women into a life of committed devotion to God.
I am also focused on winning people to Christ, motivating the people of Kingwood Church through effective programs and events that reach out to a world who needs Jesus Christ. At Kingwood, that is not just something we talk about -it’s something we are passionate in pursuing.

Clark White

Administrative Pastor
Although a Lead Pastor must direct the critical business decisions of a church, it is my desire that such matters never consume our Lead Pastor. My ministry is to free our Pastor to express his calling in ministry as a preacher and as a shepherd, without distraction. I want to clear the path of Pastor Jay and our other staff to pursue their primary callings in ministry.
In addition to our administrative responsibilities, my wife Kelly and I are blessed to head up the MAPS ministry, leading teams overseas to build churches and share Christ’s love.

Jeremy Sims

High School Student Ministries Pastor / Worship Pastor

The power to kill and to heal is in the power of the tongue and that power has no greater effect than when it is used to bless or curse teenagers. My wife Tiffani and I have built our entire ministry around blessing teens and helping them to not only experience God, but to also find His plan for their lives.

We dove head first into youth ministry immediately after graduating from college in 1999 and have never let up on our relentless love for seeing kids just “love on Jesus.” We want to show today’s youth that serving God doesn’t have to be out of their reach.

Joel Sims

Children’s & Jr. High Student Ministries Pastor
As pastors for the Children and Jr. High ministries, my wife Lindsay and I recognize that we did not get where we are today without the help of others. Others that took time to instill Godly principles in us and others took time to listen. That is why we have devoted our lives to leading kids and teenagers to the extraordinary potential that God has planned for them. Jesus said to love others just as much as you love yourself. Lindsay and I have chosen to serve children and teenagers by leading them to experience a life devoted to Jesus Christ. Lindsay and I absolutely love Kingwood and are thrilled to see what God has planned for us here at Kingwood.

Larry Jones

Pastoral Care & Facilities Pastor
As a young teenage boy, I knew clearly that God called me into his full-time service. That service has taken many forms through the years, and has brought me to this place of ministry at Kingwood Church. My ultimate goal as Facilities Pastor is to provide a place where you will feel at home from the moment you drive onto our campus and set foot in any of our facilities. Your first impressions of Kingwood are the most important, so we strive to make these facilities as excellent as any of the other ministries this church offers. In a growing, visionary church like Kingwood, my challenge each day is to not only maintain, but anticipate changes to accommodate future growth. We believe in continuous improvement, and I welcome any observations from your visit here.

Jason Hughes

Visual Arts Pastor
“Words can be forgotten, but an image lasts a lifetime…” The power of images and music set the pace for our present culture’s styles and attitudes. The stars employed in such fields make some of the highest salaries in the world… and the world takes notice. However, it is God who first spoke of acting to illustrate a point in Ezekiel 4 and I believe that drama is ministry. I am excited to create a greater atmosphere that taps further into this powerful ministry.
Through drama, video and print media, Kingwood takes itself outside the four walls of the building and promotes upcoming events and ministries that the families of the community can participate in. In this media driven day, even graphic design and video commercials can be a ministry.

Benny Cunningham

Kingwood Church LifeGroups Pastor
My wife Diane and I embrace a creative philosophy to deliver an eternal message. In my role as Headmaster at Kingwood Christian School, Diane and I desire to offer and challenge both children and parents with LIFE. Family life is busy, with too much work to do and calendars that are overloaded with activities. For the many single-parent families in our society, these demands can be even more overwhelming. Jesus knows this and wants to help . We are here to be agents for that purpose. Together, providing leadership and direction while facilitating a God-driven, quality education at KCS, we can change the next generation, and our world!

Office Manager
June came on staff in 1979 to become a full-time secretary. Now, as office manager, June’s job description is diversified and the tasks and ministry opportunities that come her way make working at Kingwood challenging, interesting, and rewarding. June coordinates the Intercessory Prayer Ministry and also serves as the Coordinator of Kingwood’s Wedding Ministry
